Research Vessels - LUDWIG PRANDTL

LUDWIG PRANDTL

The Ludwig Prandtl at sea - GKSS-Forschungszentrum GeesthachtLUWDIG PRANDTL is the research vessel of the GKSS research institute Geesthacht.  Due to her little draught of only 1.7 metres, cruises not only the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, but is especially suited for river mouths and the Wadden Sea. She offers scientists an ideal platform for sampling and research activities near the coast.

In 2002, the LUDWIG PRANDTL was made bigger and equipped with state-of-the art technology.  Aboard, there is a lab to process samples, a hydraulic folding crane, a winch, to name just some of the research equipment available to scientists. The LUDWIG PRANDTL sets out on day cruises from a number of different ports.
