UN Ocean Decade Laboratories

The Labs as the engine for the decade

Following the launch of the UN Decade of Marine Research for Sustainable Development on 1 June, the first of a total of seven Ocean Decade Laboratories on the subject An Inspiring and Engaging Ocean from 7-8 July. 

From 15 to 17 September, the second Laboratory A Predicted Ocean was held, which dealt with improved access to data and information. A Podcast recording is available. 

The following Lab is dedicated to the topic A Clean Ocean and will take place virtually from 17-19 November. Interested parties can register via a international call register for the other labs.

The seven labs are based on the seven goals of the UN Ocean Decade and offer a platform until mid-2022 to support exchange among the activities of the UN Ocean Decade. They are designed and implemented with the support of the BMBF under the leadership of German scientists within the framework of international working groups. 

KDM actively supports the Decade, especially to strengthen the global networking of young scientists. The German Ocean Decades Committee is committed to publicising the Decade in Germany and promoting its implementation.
