The meaning of scientific knowledge for society has never been greater. Humanity must increasingly address the problems of sustainable and equitable living on Earth. The German Marine Research Consortium strives to visibly bring the contribution of marine research to a better understanding of the ocean and to addressing the challenges in this special space into the societal dialogue. The Future Ocean Forum and the KDM Strategy Groups are the instruments for articulating the association's scientific strategies.

Future Forum on the Ocean

The Future Ocean Forum is a joint and independent body of marine research institutes in Germany with the aim of discussing and developing overarching scientific and research strategy topics in the field of ocean and coastal research as a "think tank".

The KDM strategy groups are dedicated to major scientific topics, especially those that have high societal relevance with regard to the oceans and seas.
