Human Science Perspectives on the Maritime

Invitation to the

Social Science & Humanities KDM Strategy Group Winter Meeting from

Date: December 9-10th, 2019

Location: Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), Fahrenheitstr. 6, 28359 Bremen (large seminar room).

Scientific perspectives on the maritime from all social sciences and humanities are welcome to be presented and discussed during the meeting. Abstracts for oral presentations or posters should focus on societies, communities, groups or individuals and their norms, conventions and interactions, which are framed and characterised by a maritime life. Further talks about societal perspectives understanding waters as a living environment, transport route, source of resources, identity, threat etc. are desirable.

The talks and posters are a framework for presenting results from ongoing or finalised projects such as PhD-theses, research sketches or technical papers on methodical issues but also for theoretical considerations. The only restrictions are that they should not be longer than 20 minutes and content wise linked to the maritime.

Please send your abstract (title, 200 words max.+ contact corresponding author in one pdf-file) to tobias.lasner@thuenen.de until October 31st, 2021. State in your email, if you prefer an oral presentation or a poster presentation.
