JPI Oceans
Background
The Joint programming Healthy and productive seas and oceans (JPI Oceans) was established in 2011 as an intergovernmental platform open to all EU Member States and associated countries investing in marine and maritime research. JPI Oceans coordinates joint research and innovation initiatives between its member countries on topics that are jointly identified by several countries as politically and socio-economically urgent. Activities include, for example:
- joint tenders
- Sharing research infrastructures and resources
- Knowledge hubs on specific topics in which national experts can exchange ideas and jointly identify research gaps and possible solutions.
KDM works in coordination with the BMBF and in close association with the JPI Oceans Secretariat, actively supporting the development, implementation and supervision of scientific activities, including in particular some Joint Actions (Joint Actions).
