The Future Ocean Forum meets for its general meeting at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg
The Future Ocean Forum met from 16 to 17 June 2024 for its general meeting and a strategy workshop at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg Delmenhorst.
The challenges for German marine research are enormous and require comprehensive and future-orientated solutions that can only be developed from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The members of the Future Forum come from various institutes and scientific disciplines. They meet at least three times a year, including once in person, to discuss various marine research topics, and at this year's general meeting, the Future Ocean Forum was able to celebrate its first publication, which was produced as part of the InTraOcean field of work on interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary cooperation. Further publications by the other fields of work are planned for the course of the year. In addition, the working fields are involved in various formats, such as a round table on the topic of prospects for young scientists in German marine research, which was organised a week later by the ECR_Ocean working field.
This year's general meeting also included the second meeting of the SCOR national committee, at which the members discussed this year's working group proposals and will evaluate them over the course of the summer.
We thank the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg for their very valuable support!
