Human activities in the ocean are increasing, often exponentially. Efforts are now being made to find a better balance between the use and protection of this valuable space. The EU mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030" is the EU's flagship initiative to reduce pollution, restore biodiversity and promote a CO2-neutral maritime economy.
The speakers presented their ideas on where investment in science and innovation can contribute to achieving these goals by 2030.
The event was organised by KDM in cooperation with the German Permanent Representation, the Hanseatic Office (Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein), the State Representations of Bremen, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Lower Saxony as well as the German Marine Research Alliance.
