Exploration and use of the seas

Right on time for its third birthday, the Stralsund Oceanographic Museum The permanent exhibition "Exploration and Use of the Oceans" opened on 11 July 2011. On 500 m², current topics of German marine research are communicated to a broad public in a vivid and interactive way.

Together with other institutions also represented in the German Marine Research Consortium, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs (BMVBS) represented by the Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration (WSV) and the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH), the exhibition concept was developed and intensive work on the content was carried out for over a year. The virtual dive was made possible with funding from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The exhibition is also supported by the Offshore Foundation, the Wind Energy Network Rostock e. V. and several shipping companies.
